Water Treatment Project I Schepersdijk I Malle

In Malle, near Antwerp, pressure pipelines transport wastewater from Schepersdijk to the sewage treatment plant on Salphensebaan. Because the existing ones could no longer handle the flow rate, Aquafin replaced them with new pressure pipes. The diameter of the pressure pipes was increased from 250 to 450 mm, thereby limiting the built-in overflow operation that sends excess wastewater to the streams. This only benefits the water quality of those watercourses. The first part of the route comprises 1 kilometer of HDPE pressure pipes.
