For the first time, Deschacht has a
ATG-certified Tubao steel buffer tank
delivered – an important milestone, because with this we are in Belgium
the only manufacturer that can offer an ATG-approved steel tank
. That is not only unique, but also particularly relevant for
, where the requirement for BENOR- or ATG-certified products is standard. This first took place in
Brussels Airport (BAC)
. In this project, the tank serves as
fire water reservoir with a volume of 300 m³
. Originally, the specifications opted for a solution in
cast-in-place concrete
, but in consultation with Stadsbader and BAC, it was eventually decided to choose the
. Without the ATG approval, this choice would not have been possible, making the certification a decisive factor.
Why Tubao? The benefits at a glance
Tubao tanks, constructed from galvanized corrugated steel, are known for their:
- High structural resistance
- Long lifespan
- Fast and easy installation
- No need for a foundation or distribution plate
- Fully custom production, up to 3 m in diameter and 21 m in length in one piece
- Stable placement where even backfilling with excavated soil is possible
For this project as a fire water storage tank, the tank is furthermore equipped with the necessary provisions (hydrant, manholes, float valve, …) and it is designed to
heavy vehicle road tax

- Mapping out all connections
- The positioning of manholes and inspection openings
- Advice on technical configurations
- Coordination with contractor and client
- Assistance during delivery and installation

optimally functioning solution implemented in compliance with ATG standards
The installation of this first
ATG-certified Tubao tank
in Belgium is a major step forward for both Deschacht and the Belgian market. It proves that innovative, sustainable, and certified solutions can perfectly meet the high technical demands of infrastructure projects, especially when safety—such as in firefighting water supply—is paramount.
