Starix Fleeceback EPDM as perfect waterproofing for terraces of new-build apartments in Kalmthout

For the substrate of a 300 m² terrace for a series of new-build apartments in Kalmthout, roofer Joël Schelfhout from Schriek chose the Starix Fleeceback EPDM from Deschacht. The result was a perfectly aesthetic, smooth, and crease-free membrane.

Thanks to its specific properties, EPDM is ideal as a base for a terrace. It remains very flexible at both high and low temperatures, meaning it will not crack or split with temperature fluctuations. In addition, it is highly pressure-resistant, which means it can handle a fair amount of weight, and it also has a long lifespan. These properties are all essential for the construction of a terrace. During the execution, the underlying garages were waterproofed using 1.52 m rolls, a convenient size that makes it possible to carry out projects of this kind independently, according to Joël Schelfhout. Moreover, the rolls are equipped with pre-applied tape, which makes installation even easier. The end seams were finished with Starix Covertape. This non-deformable tape has a vulcanized rubber adhesive layer on one side and is used in combination with Starix Primer on the EPDM membrane. Joël Schelfhout looks back with satisfaction on the result and the ease of installation.
