Drainix Traffic by Deschacht: sustainable permeable paving for heavy traffic

Deschacht launches Drainix Traffic, specially designed for heavy loads

As a specialist in sustainable water management solutions and infrastructure, Deschacht is launching a powerful expansion of the existing Drainix range: Drainix Traffic. This new water-permeable paving has been specially developed for applications where not only water infiltration, but also heavy loading is central. Think of industrial estates, recycling centers, and zones with intensive traffic such as roads.

A logical next step in sustainable paving

With Drainix Traffic, we are responding to the increasing demand from contractors, governments, and landscaping professionals for robust yet climate-friendly paving solutions. While the classic Drainix is ideal for lighter applications such as parking lots and green spaces, the Traffic variant offers a solution for environments with heavy rolling stock. Drainix Traffic is 20 cm high and can therefore be installed with double reinforcement, making the structure perfectly resistant to heavy loads and long-term intensive use.

“With Drainix Traffic, we offer our customers a unique product that combines sturdiness with high water permeability,” says Brecht De Meyer, Business Unit Manager Road Construction at Deschacht. “And that without extra infrastructure such as infiltration basins.”

Sustainable water management as a starting point

Drainix Traffic allows rainwater to infiltrate through the entire slab structure down to the subsoil. With a water permeability of 25%, the system actively contributes to a natural water cycle and prevents flooding, even during heavy rainfall. Thanks to its greater thickness and reinforced structure, it is suitable for areas that handle heavy traffic daily.

“The difference in permeability compared to our classic Drainix (30%) is more than offset by the additional load-bearing capacity,” said Brecht. “With this product, we fully comply with the applicable regulations for permeable pavements covering areas of 40 m² or more.”

The first applications: promising

The first construction sites using Drainix Traffic started in early 2025. Reactions from contractors and green professionals are enthusiastic, primarily due to the versatile applications and practical benefits. Not only industrial clients, but also municipalities and intermunicipal utility companies recognize the value of this paving solution that is both strong and environmentally friendly. They avoid additional investments in drainage systems and contribute to climate adaptation through sustainable infiltration solutions.

Specific assets for the green sector

For green sector professionals, Drainix Traffic also offers ecological benefits. During use, the foundation will not be compacted, thereby preserving water infiltration and root health of surrounding greenery. Furthermore, the product is manufactured from recycled plastic, contributing to a lower CO₂ impact.

“Green maintenance services are increasingly opting for solutions that are both ecological and low-maintenance,” Brecht explains. “Drainix Traffic fits that vision perfectly.”

A unique solution on the market

With Drainix Traffic, Deschacht confirms its role as an innovator in the market of water-permeable paving. This product makes it possible to install a 20 cm high concrete, water-permeable pavement – something that until recently was rarely achievable.

“In this product, we combine our expertise in concrete, infiltration, and infrastructure,” Brecht concludes. “Drainix Traffic is the result of listening to the needs of our customers and daring to innovate.”
