Stabilization of the gravel zones next to the platforms of Nessonvaux station

Did you know that an Olympic speed skating rink has an area of 1,800 m²? That is also the size of the gravel grids that Deschacht supplied to SACE SOGEPLANT SOTRALIEGE for the renovation of the platforms at Nessonvaux station.

Infrabel has decided to improve the infrastructure of this station, located on railway line 37. The goal: to stabilize the gravel areas on the platforms with gravel grids, a technical choice particularly suited to a region hit by floods in 2021.

Gravel grids for a sustainable design

Permeable gravel zones ensure better infiltration of rainwater, limiting the formation of puddles and standing water. Thanks to gravel grids, rutting and subsidence are prevented, which makes the platforms more accessible for people with reduced mobility (PRM), pushchairs, and all travelers.

A practical and efficient solution

With the Gravelpro gravel grids from Deschacht, the work proceeded faster and more efficiently. These grids, with a large size of 2.40 m x 1.20 m, can be laid faster than the standard sizes (1.20 m x 0.80 m). Moreover, the underside features an integrated geotextile that prevents the growth of invasive plants, which simplifies long-term maintenance.
