In collaboration with Kempisch Landschap, contractor Verschueren converted approximately 40 ha of land in Merksplas into a hotel and B&B. For this large-scale restoration project, Deschacht supplied PP-Niron HVAC pipes.
The project
The vagrant colony in Merksplas, together with Wortel-Kolonie, belongs to Colony 5-7, a part of the Benevolence Colonies in Belgium and the Netherlands. The former vagrant colony now houses a prison, as well as a center for rejected undocumented immigrants. Surrounding it, you will find a complete judicial village with prison wardens' homes, a Large Farm, a small school, and a vagrant chapel. The Large Farm, the former prison chapel, and approximately 40 hectares of land have been owned by the municipality of Merksplas since 2005. In collaboration with Kempens Landschap, an ambitious restoration program was launched. The sheepfold, cow stables, and granary are being converted into a hotel and B&B. Contractor Verschueren is executing all earthworks for ventilation, heating, water supply, fire lines, and drainage. Commissioned by Verschueren and in accordance with the bill of quantities by engineering firm Erfgoed en Visie bv, Deschacht is supplying PP-Ribwall pipes for the installation of the ventilation system. For the cooling network, PP-Niron HVAC pipes are being supplied.
