Drainage and buffering of rainwater in Bruges

Client: Donaldson

Main contractor: Bouwonderneming Bolckmans

Contractor: Verhelst aannemingen nv

The American filter manufacturer Donaldson is expanding its European distribution centre in Bruges. To allow rainwater to infiltrate more quickly, perforated PP-Ribwall pipes were installed. Thanks to an overflow chamber, the pipe acts as a buffer during heavy rainfall. This allows the rainwater to infiltrate slowly. When the chamber overflows, the pipes discharge the water into the Boudewijn Canal.
