High-end custom solution for Nippon Gases
For the renovation of the industrial site of Nippon Gases, a specialist in industrial and medical gases, in Oevel, contractor Boons – an expert in earthmoving, demolition, and road works – enlisted us for a technically advanced project: the installation of a double-walled 20,000-liter HDPE buffer tank with integrated functionalities for delayed wastewater discharge.
Strict technical requirements
The project required a solution that was more than classic storage:
- Delayed discharge of wastewater to the next processing phase
- Flow rate control of max. 1 liter/second
- Volume measurement of the discharged water
- Automatic shut-off in the event of an emergency
“A real technical challenge,” says Rudy Vandervost, product specialist at Deschacht/Collinet. “Together with our engineering department, we developed a solution that combines all requirements into one compact unit.”
Double-walled HDPE Weholite tank: durable and leak-proof
The chosen solution is a Weholite double-walled HDPE storage tank – custom-designed. This tank offers:
- Complete leak-tightness due to double-walled construction (pipe and end faces)
- High chemical resistance
- Sustainability, also in environmentally critical applications
Thanks to the versatility of HDPE, we were able to design a monoblock tank with an integrated pumping system, water meter, and electrically controlled butterfly valve. A design that is normally spread across multiple inspection chambers was consolidated here into a single unit – resulting in gains in both installation ease and reliability.
Smart Flow Management & Guaranteed Safety
The dual pump system, calculated and installed by our partner Flow Group, guarantees a constant and controlled flow rate. The integrated flow meter records the total volume of pumped water, while an automated shut-off valve blocks the outlet in the event of an emergency. Everything was factory-built into the buffer tank for maximum compactness and optimal operation.
Result: one integrated system, future-proof
For contractor Boons, all of this meant a simple installation and significant time savings. “The all-in-one buffer tank with sealed chambers was not only quicker to install, but also much more efficient in use.”
