How Deschacht manages a project

Locquet (a specialist in the rental of electrical equipment) has chosen the company Roebben for the installation of the sewerage system at its new facility. Roebben has been a customer of Deschacht for years, making this project a perfect example of the benefits of their collaboration – from the analysis of the specifications to the training of the workers. Thomas Ruwette, Technical Director at Roebben, explains:

First step: description of the construction site

The planned works under the Locquet building include earthworks, the building's foundations, landscaping, and the design of a complete sewerage system. Quite a lot of work!

“Good project design is the best way to save time,” explains Thomas Ruwette.

From a specifications document to a detailed plan

“For all underground elements, we have traditionally relied on Deschacht because we know the quality of their work. They respond quickly and have a product range and service that leave the competition far behind. But this time we entrusted them with the entire project. So we also asked Deschacht to analyze the regulations and specifications and then carry out the technical study.”

Based on the intermunicipal association's guidelines and the client's specifications, Deschacht provided a detailed plan with the required material quantities and the technical data sheets of the products.

“We already had a good human and commercial relationship with Roebben, but this was the first time they had us carry out a study,” says Vincent Brehl, technical and commercial employee at Deschacht. The engineering department works together with the contractor and proposes solutions, while also taking technical requirements and the budget into account. “We were able to convince Thomas of the benefits of entrusting the research to us, and he was very happy when he received the detailed sewerage plan.”

The valuable added value of the engineering consultancy

The engineering firm started from scratch to optimize every point of the network, as Dimitri Steilen, project manager at Deschacht, explains: “Thomas and I decided to completely redesign the sewerage network to make it as efficient as possible. We started with a blank slate and very quickly had a plan ready for implementation!”

The time savings and peace of mind provided by the study are not the only benefits. Deschacht also selects the products and eliminates all the superfluous. Functional, practical, and compliant with the required standards: everything one can expect from a good study.

“We saved time on the design and didn’t have to estimate the necessary quantities ourselves,” says Thomas Ruwette. “The study greatly simplified the work before and during construction. We had a clear plan that we could use as a basis, even though the client requested a few adjustments later.”

A Tubao tank

Based on the site's elevation plan, the engineering firm sized the entire sewerage network, including three hydrocarbon separators and two storm basins, including a 205 m³ Tubao tank.

Tubao also helps to save time. The tank is guaranteed to be easy and efficient to install! The site manager and his men needed only 60 minutes to install it, even though it was the first time they worked with this product.

The tank has an integrated pumping station, which ensures that the discharge is limited to the low flow rate imposed by the intermunicipal utility to prevent network saturation. Because the pumping station is already built-in, the contractor can take care of all the installation work themselves and does not need to call upon a plumbing specialist. This allows them to expand their range of solutions and thus also increase their turnover.
