A 1600 m³ Tubao detention basin in a new industrial estate in Awans

Zabra Real Estate is developing a new SME industrial park of over 23,000 m² in Awans. Such a project requires thoughtful rainwater management, especially since the floods of 2021, which demonstrated the importance of efficient solutions to prevent the overloading of existing sewer networks.

An optimized solution for cost and logistics

SML Ingénieurs Conseils had originally planned a 1600 m³ retention basin for the collection of rainwater from the entire road infrastructure. The initial plans assumed large concrete pipes, but the high costs, logistical challenges, and the complexity of waterproofing caused this solution to be reconsidered. Eloy Construction, together with Deschacht, investigated an optimized alternative. The choice?

, a solution that offers both economic and technical advantages.

Why TUBAO makes the difference

The galvanized, corrugated TUBAO steel tanks offer numerous advantages in terms of design and installation:

  • Fewer transport operations: longer elements result in fewer truck journeys.
  • Simple assembly: fewer parts mean a lower risk of leaks.
  • Technical flexibility: different diameters (from 1700 to 3000 mm) adapt to slopes and embankments.
  • Guaranteed waterproofness: thanks to minimal joints and the manufacturer's warranty.
  • Earthmoving optimization: custom lengths tailored to the terrain.
  • Integrated flow regulators: each tank is equipped with a calibrated system for optimal water drainage.

Fast and efficient installation

Thanks to their light weight (an average of 4 tons per element), the 10 TUBAO tanks could be easily maneuvered and installed much faster than concrete pipes or cast-in-place basins. Moreover, the tanks are specifically designed to be installed under roads, with discharge connections precisely positioned according to the installation plan. Delivery took place in phases, perfectly aligned with the progress of the construction site.

Strict project coordination

This complex project was successfully managed by

Project Manager Nordine Zeryouhi

, who coordinated every phase with expertise.

Time as a valuable factor

By revisiting the original solution, not only was a significant cost saving achieved, but valuable time was also gained – while fully meeting the technical and environmental requirements.
