Pipe Bursting in Brussels sewerage

Client: City of Brussels

Execution: Renotec

Renovation specialist Renotec renewed the sewer system in Versailleslaan in Neder-Over-Heembeek using pipe bursting. The existing 400 mm diameter vitrified clay sewer in Versailleslaan was in poor condition and was replaced with HDPE pipes using pipe bursting. A bursting head with a slightly larger diameter than the pipe pulverizes the conduit and pushes the pieces into the surrounding soil. The machine pulling the drill head simultaneously pulls the new plastic pipe attached behind the bursting head into place.
