Case study: Collinet delivers 6 dimensioned oil and grease separators with solar-powered alarm function to Fluvius Lokeren
Once again, Collinet proved its experience and expertise in sizing and custom work at the Fluvius distribution center in Lokeren. The center, which covers 10 hectares on a total domain of 25,000 m2, functions as a depot for all kinds of new and recyclable equipment. In collaboration with Deschacht, the discharge of runoff water from the center was brought into compliance with current regulations.
Six custom-sized KWS separators engineered by Collinet
Peter Rommel, Project Advisor at Collinet: “The runoff water from this large depot was draining into a canal without any purification. That obviously had to be brought into compliance. The Fluvius site is divided into 6 different zones, each of which had its own drainage pipe. A double-walled HDPE separator was provided for each zone. Everything was dimensioned to be able to handle peak rainfall events that occur on average every two years. This resulted in 3 separators with a processing capacity of 100 l/sec, 2 of 80 l/sec, and 1 of 60 l/sec.”
Solar-powered alarm function
“Collinet did provide a high-tech alarm system on the separators,” contractor Laurent De Spiegeleer adds. ”They are all equipped with a solar-powered sensor that is integrated with Fluvius' management software. These automatically send a signal via a mobile connection when the separators need to be emptied or when an emergency occurs. Given that the separators are custom-made by Collinet, fully dimensioned and with all provisions regarding connections and the like, not a single problem arose during installation.”
