In the Hauts-Sarts industrial estate, the company Eloy carried out the earthworks, sewerage system, landscaping, and storm basin for a logistics warehouse for Weerts Supply Chain (WSC). David Hick, the project manager for this site, called on Deschacht and the Tubao system for a quick and economical installation of the storm basin.
«We needed a flexible solution at a competitive price,» David Hick immediately points out. To manage rainwater runoff for the construction of this new 5-hectare WSC logistics hall (building and roadways), Tubao's corrugated and galvanized steel pipes, offered by Deschacht, proved to be the best solution. Tubao is a modern alternative to traditional precast concrete stormwater detention basins, while fulfilling the same functions: «the basin is just as watertight, durable, and easy to maintain,» explains Jonathan Englebert, Wallonia Regional Manager at Deschacht. For this installation, a flow regulator with a Vortex system was also integrated into the Tubao galvanized steel tank.
An extremely quick solution to set up
One of the main advantages of the Tubao is the speed of installation: «in half a day the work was done with two workers, a crane and the help of two workers from Tubao,» continues David Hick. This is actually part of the service included with this product. Two people from the company systematically come to provide assistance when work starts on site. «The trucks come in the morning and the pipes are placed one after the other in half a day and afterwards they can already backfill the basin,» continues Jonathan Englebert. "Conversely, with a concrete system, the installation time for such a volume (nearly 800 m3) would approach 2 to 3 weeks." This speed of execution makes it possible to avoid the risks of bad weather. There is no risk for the contractor of having to pump water to dry out the site and allow the workers to work.
The financial benefits of the Tubao system
The installation cost of a stormwater detention basin is not negligible, and Tubao helps save money on two main points: «The first is that we save on labor since it is installed in half a day. Then, we also save when trucks and heavy vehicles pass over it, because we don't need to add a load-distribution slab above the basin,» comments Jonathan Englebert. This is another specific feature of Tubao which, given its 2.7 mm galvanized steel thickness and corrugated shape, allows it to withstand surface loads without getting damaged.

«The meticulous work of Eloy and more particularly of David Hick, Adrien Delhaise and Didier Bousmanne deserves to be highlighted,» points out Jonathan Englebert, who is also pleased with the good communication regarding this project. On this construction site, Deschacht was not involved in the drafting and design of the plan.
