The largest TEC depot in Jumet is now being expanded with 15,500 m² of additional parking space and a two-story training building. This large-scale project is being carried out by the contractors Lixon and Wanty, who have chosen Deschacht for its expertise and products related to water collection and treatment.
Wanty carries out all infrastructure works (sewerage, roads, surroundings) and Lixon builds the above-ground structures, such as the roofs with solar panels and the training building.
The infiltration basin with a volume of 1300 m³
The most important part of the project is a storm basin with a gross volume of 1,300 m³. This large capacity is accommodated by the immense size of the basin with the following dimensions: 43 meters long, 17 meters wide, and 1.8 meters high. The choice for this shape was dictated by spatial constraints. Because this is an infiltration basin rather than a retention basin, the surface area in contact with the draining sand bed had to be as large as possible.
Design and installation
The 3D preview with Deschacht's BIM library made it possible to include the basin and all associated piping in the overall plan. A great help for Wanty project manager Denis Beublet: “We work closely with Deschacht and have a loyal relationship with them. They are not just suppliers, but true partners, experts who know not only their products, but also the legislation and application.” The infiltration basin is made of Variobox, the polypropylene crates that have become classics in water management systems. They are the ideal solution for collecting water that needs to infiltrate into the ground.</p
A fully equipped separator
The hydrocarbon separator is also of an exceptional size: 2.4 meters in diameter and 9 meters in length, giving a capacity of 40 m³. It can process a flow rate of 100 l/s. This double-walled HDPE component was manufactured by Collinet, our sister company in Herstal. It contains all the technology that facilitates operation and maintenance: overpressure leak detection and an alarm that warns when sludge and hydrocarbons need to be removed. All runoff water reaches the separator via more than a kilometer of PP pipes (diameters 315 to 630 mm) also supplied by Deschacht. Beneath this large parking lot lies a high-quality system that discharges the water back into nature after treatment!
