Built in a meander of the Ourthe, Durbuy is often called “the smallest town in the world.” The business park and the many shops and restaurants, which are frequently visited by tourists, generate a significant amount of wastewater. Wastewater that must first be treated to prevent the city's drainage system from becoming clogged by accumulated fat.
The La Calèche restaurant wanted to do its part and asked Michel Gilson of EMKG to quickly find a solution for the start of the tourist season. EMKG is a local company based in Hotton and led by Kevin Gloire. The company has built a strong relationship of trust with the local economy thanks to the quality of its previously delivered work. EMKG approached its partner Deschacht to visit the future site and to jointly determine the most suitable solution.
Deschacht takes on the challenge
Various constraints had to be taken into account, such as the narrow side corridor, a rocky subsoil, the slope, and an existing network, which required the necessary creativity The ideal solution was the production of a custom-made HDPE grease trap, with dimensions that made it possible to provide a sludge removal zone, a grease trap zone, 2 inspection and cleaning openings, and a discharge column.
Custom solutions for installation in tight spaces
When designing the degreaser, a significant volume had to be accommodated while ensuring the tank would fit in a narrow space. Collinet’s design department provided a 3D drawing to visualize the tank and place it on the execution plans. A separator measuring 3500x1500x800 mm with a gross volume of 4.2 m³ (3.36 m³ net) was delivered well before the start of the tourist season. Made of 20 mm thick panels, equipped with lifting slings, and weighing less than 300 kg, the separator was built in less than 10 days to meet the deadline. Mission accomplished!
