Rainwater Management for Colruyt in Saint-Servais: A Columnbox Rainwater Storage Tank

When study, logistics and on-site support make the difference

In Saint-Servais, a former site has made way for a brand-new Colruyt store. This demolition and reconstruction project was carried out by MBM Immo, responsible for the earthworks. The technical solutions on the site were developed thanks to close cooperation with Deschacht, a reliable partner for earthwork professionals.

A construction site with high hydraulic demands

The requirements regarding water management were particularly strict. Because the site is completely watertight, all rainwater and runoff water from the parking lot had to be collected, bundled, and infiltrated on-site. The chosen solution: a Columnbox infiltration buffer, custom-sized based on the surface area and soil conditions, ideal for infiltration. This choice optimizes the volume of the buffer and respects environmental regulations. Thanks to Columnbox's stackable design, transport costs are significantly reduced, while the mechanical resistance and porosity are equal to other SUDS (SAUL) solutions.

A study service that secures the construction site

For MBM Immo, this project marked a first large-scale collaboration with Deschacht. Our engineering department took charge of sizing the retention tank, selecting the location, and analyzing the accessibility constraints on site. We were also on site to directly assist the teams with the assembly of the tank. This hands-on support, which was greatly appreciated by the contractor, saved time and prevented execution errors.

More than materials: a true partnership

In addition to the infiltration buffer, Deschacht supported MBM Immo by:

  • Structured commercial guidance, allowing MBM Immo to fully concentrate on the execution of the works,
  • Fast logistics service, thanks to the proximity of the Farciennes branch,
  • A complete range: polyethylene and concrete inspection chambers, PVC sewerage network, oil and grease separators (essential for the store's butchery), FASERFIX KS100 channels, pressure PE for water supply, specific grey accessories, and even warning tape and SIKA products.

This collaboration perfectly illustrates our vision: being a technical, committed, and sustainable partner for earthmoving contractors, today and in the future.
