ribwall sewerage

Client: Infrabel

Contractor: Hens nv

Infrabel is laying two extra railway lines between Ghent and Bruges with a new sewage system in between. Contractor Hens therefore expanded the existing railbed between Aalter and Landegem and installed 8 km of Ribwall infiltration pipes beneath the tracks. At Infrabel's request, Deschacht had them manufactured in stiffness class SN16. This is because the pipes will have to withstand a great deal of pressure from the trains. PP-Ribwall was specifically used because it is stronger than regular PVC, and to allow rainwater between the tracks to quickly infiltrate into the ground and drain excess water to the sewage system.
