At the iconic site of the former Le Palladium nightclub in Baisy-Thy, Deschacht is supporting its partner VDRT, a specialist in earthworks and outdoor landscaping, in an ambitious project for the construction of a nursing home. From the initial study to the final connections, our technical expertise guarantees meticulous follow-up and reliable solutions for the sewerage part of the project.
A project managed from A to Z
Deschacht has been working closely with VDRT for almost five years. For this project, launched in 2021, our team ensured full coordination between the architect, the main contractor, and the subcontractor. This made it possible to avoid delays and guarantee the technical quality of the construction site. The historical site brought specific challenges, including an objection from local residents regarding the height of the care home. Thanks to a methodical approach and continuous follow-up of the studies, the project was able to continue evolving despite these adjustments. “On this type of project, you need a partner who truly understands the site constraints and remains involved for the long term. With Deschacht, we know we can count on strong technical follow-up, even when the project evolves or becomes more complex,” says Stéphane Gauthier, Operations Manager at VDRT.
High-performance water management systems
Already during the study phase, Deschacht identified several elements that needed to be resized: the grease separator, the pumping stations, and the buffer volume (storm basin). These recommendations made it possible to anticipate regulatory requirements and ensure optimal operation of the drainage and water management systems. For this project, Deschacht supplied:
- A Columnbox infiltration basin of 230 m³, for rainwater buffering and regulation.
- Two pumping stations, one in single-wall PE (3.40 m high, 1.2 m diameter) for the storm basin and one in double-wall PE (1.5 m diameter) for wastewater, with a pressure pipe of over 100 m.
- A vortex filter that can treat roof runoff from 3,000 m², for efficient pre-treatment prior to storage or discharge.
- A 10 l/s PE grease trap for the pre-treatment of kitchen wastewater.
An added value that makes a difference
Deschacht's support goes beyond just supplying materials. We guide VDRT through all phases of the project, with technical advice, sizing checks, and continuous coordination. Our triangular approach ensures smooth communication and limits unforeseen issues, which is particularly appreciated in long-term projects. Today, the site is evolving towards the finishing of the landscaping and the installation of the tanks and connections, which once again underscores the importance of well-considered engineering and a reliable technical partnership.
