How do you store 1,200,000 liters of water for a sprinkler and fire-extinguishing system?
Eutraco and Vulsteke Industrial Buildings are developing a state-of-the-art, climate-neutral warehouse of 30,000 m² in Hooglede. This new building will be equipped with the most modern technologies and is fully tailored to the logistical needs of today and tomorrow. Sustainability is a strategic priority at Eutraco, and this warehouse is an excellent example of their commitment to energy efficiency and the reduction of their ecological footprint.
Innovative underground firefighting water supply
To comply with strict safety standards and limited available space, the warehouse is being equipped with a fully integrated underground sprinkler and fire suppression solution. Since there are no extinguishing water connections available in the immediate vicinity, underground storage tanks were chosen to guarantee the speed and availability of extinguishing water.
In collaboration with Deschacht, contractor Vulsteke Bedrijfsgebouwen is providing a total solution:
- 600,000 liter capacity for the sprinkler system
- 600,000 liters for the fire water tank
This storage capacity is realized using 4 linked Tubao tanks, which are installed underground in just a few hours.

A striking feature of this project is the custom PE connector that links the tanks to a vertically positioned Tubao element. This innovative design guarantees maximum water flow in the shortest possible time, which is crucial for an effective fire-extinguishing system.
