Client: BMW Garage Meerschmann
Contractor: Willy Naessens Group
Near the Albatros roundabout in Erembodegem, the new branch of the Meerschmann garage, a dealer for BMW and Mini, is nearing completion. Two large
constructed. Instead of a traditional concrete basin, the client opted for a
custom-made solution by the Tubao-Deschacht duo
.The galvanized steel pipes from the French manufacturer
penetrate ever deeper into the market. Wherever (rain)water needs to be buffered, stored, redirected or infiltrated, developers, architects and engineering firms are increasingly opting for a solution featuring corrugated Tubao pipes. This was also the case for the construction of two reservoirs at the site of the new BMW-Mini dealership in the Sterrenhoek industrial estate in Aalst-Erembodegem.
Installed in half a day
In this case, it concerns two tanks, formed from
3 meter diameter PVC pipes
. One has a total
storage of the captured rainwater
that can serve as fire-fighting water for the fire department. To this end, the pipe was equipped with suction lines to which the fire department can connect if necessary. The
second tank measures 34.50 meters
and will supply the sprinkler system with clean tap water. The necessary suction pipes were also installed here. The two tanks were transported to the site by Deschacht, where earthworks contractor GLK had the pipes lowered into pre-excavated trenches. Tubao provided the necessary connections and further finishing. The entire installation was inspected and certified by an independent engineer. Duration of the installation: half a day! «
When you compare this to 4 to 6 weeks for a concrete tub, you understand the choice for this alternative
», Geert Vanhecke concludes.
