Tubao buffer tank installed in less than 1 day!

invests in a new commercial building of 5,000 m². This

is necessary for the further development of the group, specifically the timber construction department. The company is also investing in more environmentally friendly construction processes. Moulard, an earthmoving contractor, called upon the expertise of Deschacht.

A joinery for the future

It goes without saying that Dherte knows a thing or two about carpentry. Since 1880, the construction company has made it its specialty. Today, 35 of the group's 300 employees are carpenters. And there will be even more, thanks to a new factory that began

will be put into service in 2024.

The new building comprises 4,500 m²

workshops and 500 m²

office space. Beneath the buildings, 2 Deschacht products will be installed: a 141 m³ Tubao tank

and a 75 m³ HDPE tank

Tailor-made advice from Deschacht

Damien Dufranne, the project manager at Dherte, explains the water collection: “The planning permission required a storm basin of at least 100 m³

and a reserve of 40 m³

for circular water management.

So the initial plans were drawn up according to those specifications, before being passed on to contractor Moulard, who won the contract for the earthworks, drainage, and landscaping.

But as Christophe Moulard explains, there were technical consequences due to the topography and moisture of the site: “To avoid the risks of instability and the additional costs of a pumping station to the existing sewerage system, we were not allowed to dig too deep.”.

Christophe Moulard also remembers that the original order called for a complex assembly: “When we made an inventory of all the equipment we would need, we came up with 7 concrete tanks of 20 m³

and an equal number of connectors and inspection chambers.

The contractor entrusted the plans to our engineering firm. The solution was optimized in every respect: functionality, budget, and implementation.

Save with Tubao

The first optimization that Nordine Zeryouhi,

proposed by the Deschacht engineering firm, was the replacement of the seven concrete tanks at the front of the building with a Tubao buffer tank.

“The Tubao is a galvanized steel tank that is highly modular and exceptionally quick to install. The earthmover only has to dig one pit instead of seven, and the entire installation is completed in less than a day,” Nordine explains.

That is confirmed by Christophe Moulard, who estimates that about four full working days were saved.

The other immediate benefit is the reduction in the number of inspection chambers from 7 to 2. After all, the Tubao only needs to be inspected upstream to check the incoming flow rate, and downstream to check the outgoing flow rate. “That means a direct saving on the budget,” says Nordine.

HDPE tank for stability

At the back of the building, a different solution was needed. Due to the boggy soil and limited maneuvering space, Nordine chose an HDPE tank.

“That is a large pipe made of recycled PE, 75 meters long and 1 meter in diameter,” Nordine explains. “So it is a very light and easy-to-install tank.”

This system, just like the Tubao, was a first for Moulard, who received assistance on site from Deschacht.

“They came here twice to follow the installation,” says Christophe Moulard. He adds, “We felt very well supported from the beginning to the end of the project. Specifically, the 6-meter sections are easy to fit together, with the assurance that the system is watertight.”.

The services of the Deschacht engineering consultancy

Dherte's carpentry shop now has a sustainable and optimized rainwater management system, and Moulard has kept its costs under control and saved valuable working days.

Deschacht's engineering department optimizes the details of every project to ensure gains, savings, and safety across the board. What's more, this service is not charged if the materials are ordered from Deschacht.
