Client: Gasthuisberg Hospital Leuven
Main contractor: Grondwerken J&N
At the Gasthuisberg hospital in Leuven, a parking lot for 181 cars has to make way for a new hospital wing. However, that wing will only open in 2 years. Therefore, Grondwerken J&N is constructing a replacement temporary parking lot using plastic Trudidal grass pavers. These are ideal for a temporary parking lot: major works are not necessary and no drainage needs to be provided because the rainwater infiltrates into the ground. Black Trudidal grass pavers measuring 1200 x 800 x 50 mm were chosen. The parking lot has a total area of 3,800 m². Each parking space is 5 meters long and 2.5 meters wide. To indicate the difference between the roadways and the parking spaces, the grass pavers are filled with 2 colors of gravel: brown for the roadways, blue for the parking spaces. The parking spaces are also delineated with white Trudidal marker caps, which fit perfectly into the hexagonal holes of the pavers.
