Renovation of historical roof Neerhoeve

Vano-Dakproject renovates historic roof Neerhoeve with materials from Deschacht

At the heart of the Schoonselhof urban cemetery in Wilrijk, the historic Neerhoeve is undergoing a thorough restoration. This monumental square farmhouse, built around 1607, is being repurposed into a workshop for the green services and cemetery services of the City of Antwerp. A special project in which craftsmanship and respect for heritage go hand in hand.

For the roof restoration, main contractor Vano-Dakproject deliberately chose a combination of sustainable materials and reliable partners. As a specialist in roofing, facade, and insulation materials, Deschacht provided a custom total solution for this heritage project.

Craftsmanship and passion for historic buildings

Vano-Dakproject is a family business run by two brothers with a background in carpentry, specializing in the renovation of pitched and flat roofs. They have a special affinity for historic buildings and often work with natural slates. For the Neerhoeve, they delivered a tour de force: a renovation of 1,440 m² of roof surface, accounting for no less than 88,000 natural slates.

Quality in every detail – from slate to insulation

For this project, the Itasi natural slate was chosen, a high-quality slate with an excellent price-quality ratio. Thanks to the ATG certification, this slate meets the strictest quality requirements. Our roofing specialist Nicky assisted Vano-Dakproject with advice regarding material selection. Following a test in terms of quality and ease of installation, the roofers were convinced of the Itasi slates. In addition to the natural slates, Deschacht also supplied:

  • Bauder PIR insulation (10 cm)
  • Delta Sparxx vapor barrier
  • Roofing screws
  • Reproduction of old capitals, matching the historical character of the building
  • 120 linear meters of copper gutters

More than a supplier: partner on the construction site

Vano-Dakproject chose not only the products, but also Deschacht's service. Thanks to our large stock and delivery to the job site, the work could be carried out without delay – an important asset for restoration projects with tight schedules. At Deschacht, roofers find everything under one roof: from underlayment to finishing. As a one-stop shop for roofing materials, we are ready with technical advice, product knowledge, and logistical support. The project in Wilrijk is the perfect example of this.
