Case study: Deschacht and Collinet jointly provide ingenious interpretation for Renson's future-oriented project
Anyone driving along the E17 near Kruisem/Nazareth can’t miss it: Renson’s new 380-meter-long facility is nearing completion. The complex, which consists of a production facility and an ’experience center,’ is a showcase of forward-thinking architecture and construction techniques—where Industry 4.0 harmoniously blends with the concept of ‘outdoor living’ and respect for nature and the environment. Deschacht and Collinet have also contributed to this forward-looking character by, among other things, supplying ingenious solutions for water buffering and wastewater separation that perfectly align with the philosophy of the client and architects.

KWS separators
Peter Rommel, Project Advisor at Collinet: “The new production facility includes its own powder coating production plant, among other things. Wastewater and chemicals are collected in a drainage channel made of resistant PP. The effluent is collected in two emergency tanks of 35,000 and 50,000 liters, respectively. I proposed working with two double-walled HDPE tanks because of the material's durable chemical resistance and the double protection against leaks. For the easy concealment of cabling for an event space, among other things, Hauraton cable channels with closed covers were supplied. To remove fats and oils from the rainwater falling on the site in accordance with regulations, 2 class I oil separators (NS) with a processing capacity of 100 liters/second each were installed. Here, the architect and client opted for two double-walled separators to eliminate the risk of leaks and the infiltration of polluting hydrocarbons into the soil.”
Tubao as a modern alternative to buffer tank
For stormwater buffering, architect Wim Embo proposed a contemporary alternative to the traditional concrete basin. Wim Embo: “I already knew Tubao from trade literature and previous projects, and I was convinced of its benefits. I had two Tubao pipes with a 3-meter diameter installed side by side, equipped with all the necessary connections and the like. That buffer water will be used for irrigating the lawns and replenishing the numerous water features. The advantages of such a Tubao buffer tank lie primarily in the speed of installation. Constructing a concrete basin takes weeks. Installing a Tubao, including excavating the pit, takes about 3.5 days, so no explanation is needed there. The Tubaos come factory-equipped with all necessary connections, manholes for inspection, and so on, so the on-site installation went smoothly. It is a forward-looking alternative that I will certainly prescribe again on future occasions.”
