Deschacht permanent partner of drilling spoil company Climadrill

In the geothermal drilling niche, the name Climadrill is a household word. Managing director Jonas Vercruysse and his team rely on Deschacht for high-quality and affordable solutions. Both companies are once again joining forces for a new drilling project in Blandain, Wallonia.

Wealth of experience and know-how

Climadrill – headquartered in Ledegem, West Flanders – was founded in 2019 by Jonas Vercruysse. Even so, the company possesses a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of drilling and geothermal energy, because Jonas and his employees have been active in the sector for a long time. “Before founding Climadrill, we worked in similar companies at the European level,” Jonas explains. “Today, we have grown into one of the largest drilling companies in Belgium.”

Rising demand for geothermal solutions

Climadrill's order book is currently well filled. “Today we are following up on a great many projects, with an ever-increasing focus on geothermal studies, consultancy, and geothermal drilling for geothermal energy extraction,” Jonas indicates. “Throughout the whole of Belgium, we provide geothermal installations for both residential and utility projects. One of the recently started sites is the construction of a so-called BEO field – which stands for borehole thermal energy storage – in Blandain, Wallonia. Building owner CEBEO wants to erect an office building there that will be heated and cooled via geothermal energy. They are counting on our expertise to carry out 126 boreholes, each 60 meters deep.‘

Ready for challenging drilling projects

That assignment promises to be a real tour de force, because the Climadrill operators in Blandain have to take into account a mix of soft and harder (rock) soils. “Few drilling companies dare to take on that challenge, but we like to sink our teeth into such projects. Not only thanks to our extensive know-how and experience on board, but also thanks to the excellent materials and applications that Deschacht offers us,” says Jonas.

Climadrill and Deschacht: excellent collaboration

He refers in this regard to the excellent collaboration with Francis Van Coppenolle, geothermal commercial assistant at Deschacht. “Francis is our regular contact person at Deschacht, both for placing orders and for answering subsequent questions,” Jonas says. “This ensures very short communication lines and a real hands-on approach. We appreciate this tremendously. After all, in our projects we need to be able to switch gears quickly. With Deschacht's products and service, we succeed in doing this perfectly.” Francis adds, “The collaboration with Jonas and his team is very pleasant. Through a digital platform, we share information with each other, including a schedule of products that Climadrill wants to order from Deschacht. Based on this, we can smoothly process new orders and deliver products—primarily geothermal heat exchangers and PE pipes—within the scheduled timeframes. That approach creates a win-win situation for both parties.”

Personalized communication

In addition to the extensive product range with an excellent price-quality ratio and corresponding services, Jonas is also very pleased with Deschacht's customized personal communication: “Because we have been working with Francis for several years now, we understand each other very well. If my employees have a specific question about an order or the delivery of a product, a single phone call is enough to get a clear answer. We hope to continue working with Deschacht for many years to come!”
