Client: Residentie Guérin
General contractor: Lucas David
For the new Guérin residence in Rocourt, a steel storm basin was chosen instead of a concrete one. The two functions of the storm basin are, on the one hand, to delay runoff into the sewage system—the primary function of any storm basin—and, on the other hand, to serve as a fire-fighting water reserve for the fire department.
The steel storm basin consists of a large 240-cubic-meter pipe made of galvanized steel. The product is manufactured by the company Tubao in France using steel from Liège and is a first in Wallonia. Its watertightness, erosion resistance, and load-bearing capacity for roads are in no way inferior to concrete. Furthermore, this reduces costs and shortens the implementation time.
