Hamann International Logistics is expanding its branch in Wetteren

In March 2022, Hamann International Logistics from Wetteren announced the construction of an additional transfer warehouse of 8,000 square meters. Today, new office buildings, a cross-dock warehouse, an underground parking lot, and an additional truck parking lot are also in the works. For these construction projects, the logistics player is calling upon the expertise of Wegenwerken De Moor and Deschacht.

Expansion of business site

With a total of 30,500 square meters of warehouse space, 240 employees, 4 locations, and operations in over 60 countries, Hamann International Logistics is a fast-growing player in its sector. To keep pace with those growth figures, we are currently putting various expansion plans into practice. “Right next to our existing company building, a new structure is currently rising, complemented by an underground parking garage for 220 cars, a cross-dock warehouse, and office and utility space,” confirms co-managing director Yves Speliers. “A new truck parking area is also planned. Additional office space will be built across the street.”

Close consultation and customization

For the road and sewer works of these three sites, Hamann turned to its neighbors, Wegenwerken De Moor. “That cooperation as neighbors ensured excellent mutual coordination and preparation of the works,” confirms Thomas De Lathauwer, managing director of Wegenwerken De Moor. “Good consultation was certainly necessary, taking into account the complexity of the sites and the use of specific products and materials, such as automatically controlled butterfly valves, oil-water separators, and pump pits. For this, we could turn to Deschacht's team.”

Thorough analysis

Deschacht not only supplied all the necessary building materials for the road and sewer works, but also helped the client and contractor fine-tune the sewer plan. Dirk Stuyven, Head of Study Services and Engineering at Deschacht, explains: “Through a thorough screening of the file, and in consultation with all parties involved, we fine-tuned the sewer plan for the main site. We analyzed the complete drainage concept, including a review against the latest regional regulations in the field of rainwater retention and infiltration. Based on this screening, Thomas’s construction team ordered all the necessary materials.” “We also provided the necessary advice for the new truck parking lot site, focusing on the correct sizing of drainage pipes and oil and petrol separators,” Dirk concludes.

Comprehensive order list

The order list was very diverse, Thomas explains. “In addition to the aforementioned automatically controlled butterfly valves, KWS separators and pump sumps, we also ordered inspection chambers, infiltration pipes with a diameter of 600 millimeters, PVC pipes in all necessary diameters and a calamity tank – split into three compartments – of 30 cubic meters.”

Proactive approach

Road works company De Moor and Deschacht have been working together for many years, and that is no coincidence. “We not only appreciate the technical support and advice from Deschacht's experts, but also the fact that the delivery of ordered products and materials is always correct and within the scheduled timeframes,” Thomas confirms. “Thanks to short communication channels, they respond quickly to our questions. This enables us to always offer our own customers correct service and maintain our scheduled work plans.” Yves Speliers appreciates the excellent interaction between Wegenwerken De Moor and Deschacht. “Their collaboration proves that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Thanks to the exchange of knowledge and expertise, as the client, we reap the benefits of this synergy.”
