Gare Maritime – Tour & Taxis I Brussels

Client: Gare Maritime – Tour & Taxis

Client: Extensa

Engineering firm: Bureau Bouwtechniek

Architect: Neutelings-Riedijk Architecten

The old freight station on the Tour & Taxis site is being renovated. The ‘Gare Maritime’ project is thus being developed into an indoor, bustling city with space for offices, events, catering, and shopping facilities. In this project, Deschacht is the partner for study and design regarding solutions for rainwater drainage and wastewater drainage. The sewerage route is being developed using solid-wall PP sewer pipes and PP-Ribwall pipes in combination with MDPE manholes and PP manholes.

Unique to the project is the rainwater buffering and storage solution. For this purpose, 440 linear meters (2 m diameter) of galvanized corrugated steel ‘Tubao’ tanks were placed underground for a total storage capacity of 1382 m³. This customized solution guarantees quick installation in 4 working days and is accessible via 5 manholes per 20 meters of tank.
