For a recent renovation of an annex in a terraced house, DDG Renovaties, led by Yannick, chose a stylish and ecological roofing solution. On top of the EPDM roof waterproofing, the Greenfix DIY extensive green roof system was installed—a smart choice that not only improves the roof's appearance, but also contributes to better insulation, rainwater retention, and a sustainable living environment. “The installation went exceptionally smoothly,” says Yannick. “The system is user-friendly and perfectly suited for small or medium-sized flat roofs. The cassettes simply click together, making the end result look sleek and uniform right away.”
Simple and efficient green roof
The Greenfix DIY system consists of ready-made green roof cassettes built from a substrate layer, drainage layer, and water reservoir. Each cassette contains eight slow-growing sedum species that give the roof a natural look with minimal maintenance. Thanks to the Greenfix Protect protective layer made from recycled textile fibers, the roof membrane remains optimally protected against mechanical damage. If necessary, a root-barrier foil can also be added for extra security. With a water-retention capacity of 25 l/m² and a total weight of only 53 kg/m² (saturated), this system is a sustainable solution that pairs perfectly with EPDM roofs.
The result?
A green, functional and low-maintenance roof that not only enhances the home, but also contributes to a more pleasant urban climate. Yannick from DDG Renovations concludes:
“The Greenfix system is highly recommended: easy to install, aesthetically pleasing, and technically well-designed. This is the future of flat roofs.”
