During the 2022 construction holiday, the Schaerbeek station was equipped with brand-new infrastructure piping around the railway at a rapid pace. The drainage system was installed in a very short period of time. Deschacht nv provided the contractor with all the necessary materials for the installation of the drainage. \u201cWe regularly supply materials to railway builders. At the Schaerbeek station, railway construction company Dewitte-Vandecaveye installed a completely new infrastructure pipeline around the railway line. The tracks were in need of renewal and the switches had to be replaced. On the outside, the contractor installed a brand-new drainage system. \u201cWe did all of this during the 2022 construction holiday, so that we would inconvenience travelers as little as possible with the work,\u201d says Matthias Broucke of Dewitte-Vandecaveye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Deschacht was no newcomer to the construction site in Schaerbeek. The company regularly supplies all the necessary materials for railway infrastructure works. \u201cWe supply materials for the total project. From infiltration pipes and inspection chambers to finishing products such as prefabricated edges and cast-iron covers,\u201d says Francis Van Coppenolle of Deschacht. \u201cParticularly for the drainage system alongside the railroad, we offer the best materials.\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What requirements must PP pipes meet to be suitable for railway construction? An SN 16 load class. Deschacht's PP Ribwall pipes meet this requirement and were therefore used for the drainage system. \u201cThe pipes have a high chemical resistance, making them resistant to water with a high acidity and temperature; the smooth inner wall prevents sedimentation and deposits; and despite their low pipe weight, they have a high impact strength. Last but not least, they are 100% recyclable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dewitte-Vandecaveye will complete the project at the end of October. Matthias is already looking back with satisfaction on the collaboration with Deschacht: \u201cWe usually order our materials from Deschacht, especially the pipes. The products are of good quality and the service is fine, shortages are replenished very quickly. For large projects, we also rely on their advisory function. So we like working with Deschacht.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
