A completely new school campus is rising on Vaartdijkstraat in Bruges. The Eiffage Group (JV Vuylsteke \u2013 Antwerpse bouwwerken) is building the new VTI campus there. It goes without saying that this includes a sewerage system that meets legal, structural, and budgetary requirements. We spoke with subcontractor Maeyaert, which carried out the sewerage works, and Dirk Stuyven of Deschacht, which supplied the materials for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Collaboration between study service and sewer contractor<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dirk Stuyven, Head of Study Department & Engineering at Deschacht: \u201cWe secured the project for the indoor and outdoor sewerage of the new technical school campus after intensive consultation between our study department and the contractors, the school board, and the engineering firm. Scholen Van Morgen (the public-private partnership between the Flemish government and private companies) also had a say in the matter. In collaboration with our customer, Maeyaert from Roeselare, we technically and budgetarily optimized the sewerage concept and proposed the appropriate facilities for wastewater drainage and the buffering and infiltration of rainwater. All of this was developed into a complete sewerage plan in compliance with all statutory standards and regulations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is a major project, says Pieter-Jan Maeyaert, CEO of Maeyaert Aannemingen. VTI is a technical school, so in addition to the necessary piping for the drainage of sanitary facilities and showers, we also had to make provisions for the wastewater drainage of certain departments such as the automotive, welding, and machining workshops. In consultation with Deschacht's engineering department, we developed a complete plan for the indoor and outdoor sewerage. This was then discussed and refined during site meetings with the main contractor, architect, and the client's engineering firm. That took several months.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mega Ribwall infiltration pipes and inspection chambers<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PVC pipe was used for the interior sewerage, while 545m of Ribwall IT infiltration pipe \u00f81000 was used for the drainage and buffering of rainwater. The matching HDPE inspection chamber has a diameter of a staggering 1.6 meters! The DWA MDPE chambers, in turn, were right up the alley of the specialists at Collinet. \u201cThose inspection chambers are custom-made at Collinet and provided with all accessories,\u201d says Pieter-Jan Maeyaert, \u201cthat really saves quite a bit of time on the job site.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We strive for quality and the necessary follow-up for every project, both for private individuals and contractors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
