Drainix Traffic: durable water-permeable paving for heavy traffic

We are launching Drainix Traffic, specially designed for heavy loads

At Deschacht, we continue to innovate to offer our customers the best solutions. We are proud to introduce Drainix Traffic, our latest water-permeable paving, specially developed to withstand extreme loads without sacrificing permeability. This innovation is ideal for industrial zones, recycling centers, and other locations with heavy traffic.

A logical step in sustainable infrastructure

According to our Business Unit Manager Road Construction, Brecht De Meyer, the development of Drainix Traffic was a logical next step: “With the introduction of Drainix Traffic, we offer contractors and green professionals a solution for situations where water permeability is crucial, but heavy loads also play a role. Think of container parks, industrial sites, and other zones where intensive traffic takes place.”

Drainix Traffic has a height of 20 centimeters can be placed with a double reinforcement. This makes the construction particularly strong and suitable for heavy traffic and intensive use. “While the classic Drainix focuses primarily on lighter applications such as parking lots and landscaping, Drainix Traffic provides a solution for roads and areas where heavy equipment passes daily.”

Sustainable water management as a core value

One of the biggest assets of Drainix Traffic is its contribution to sustainable water management. “Unlike traditional concrete pavement, this innovation allows water to infiltrate through the entire structure down to the subgrade. This prevents flooding and contributes to a natural water cycle.”, thus Brecht.

The water permeability of Drainix Traffic is 25%, slightly less than the 30% of the original Drainix, but with a much higher load-bearing capacity thanks to its extra thickness and reinforcement. This means that projects requiring both durability and infiltration are perfectly suited for this new solution.

Initial applications and market interest

Since the first deliveries in February 2025 we notice a great interest from contractors and green professionals. Not only industrial companies, but also cities and municipalities see the benefits of this innovative paving.

“We notice that municipalities are increasingly opting for sustainable solutions that contribute to better water management”, Brecht says. “With Drainix Traffic, they can make their roads and parking lots permeable to water without sacrificing strength and durability. Moreover, Drainix Traffic responds to stricter regulations regarding water management. For new or repaved surfaces larger than 40 square meters, strict requirements apply regarding water infiltration. Drainix Traffic offers a practical solution for this without the need for expensive additional facilities such as infiltration basins.”

Benefits for green professionals

For professionals in the green sector, Drainix Traffic offers significant advantages. Brecht explains: “Because both the paving and the foundation remain permeable to water, the impact on the surrounding greenery is minimal. The foundation is not compacted under heavy traffic, which promotes the natural infiltration of rainwater.”

In addition, we produce Drainix Traffic sustainable, partly made from recycled material. This makes it not only a functional, but also an environmentally friendly choice. City and municipal green services are increasingly opting for water-permeable paving as part of their climate adaptation strategy. Drainix Traffic offers a longer lifespan and lower maintenance costs in this regard compared to traditional pavers or asphalt.

Our unique market position

With the introduction of Drainix Traffic, we distinguish ourselves as an innovator in the Belgian market. “Contractors can now install a 20-centimeter-thick concrete slab that is water-permeable. Until recently, this was barely possible.”, thus Brecht. “Our solution offers many more applications than before, and ensures that water-permeable infrastructure is also a viable option for heavy traffic.”

We believe that Drainix Traffic will play an important role in future infrastructure projects where both sustainability and robustness are required. “We continue to innovate and listen to our customers” needs. Drainix Traffic is an excellent example of that."
